Today I want to focus on one thing and one thing only: Staying grounded.
What is staying grounded?
Here are some thoughts:
Staying grounded is…
- Feeling calm and centered
- Being present
- Making conscious choices
Wait – it might be as important to say what staying grounded is NOT…
Staying grounded means NOT:
- Getting distracted by thoughts and automatic reactions
- Allowing impulses and urges to hijack your mind and body
- Being a victim to anything
So, how am I going to stay grounded today?
Well, decide to do so. Make it a goal or intention. My intention is to be in a grounded place all day. When I notice that I am not feeling grounded, I will pause, ground myself, and only then will I proceed.
Aha – that’s the key! Make being grounded the number one priority. Nothing happens unless and until I am centered, present and fully aware. No doing ANYTHING in a half-baked state of distraction.
